Rabol.id–Langkat: Pelaksana Tugas (Plt) Bupati Langkat H Syah Afandin SH hadiri tradisi jamu sawah dan tepung tawar bibit padi, di Dusun II Desa Selotong, Kecamatan Secanggang, Langkat, Senin (26/9/2022).
Kegiatan ini dalam rangka melaksanakan tradisi sebagai rasa syukur menyambut panen raya persawahan para petani warga di Dusun II Desa Selotong.
Kedatangan Plt Bupati Langkat didampingi Kepolres Langkat AKBP Danu Pamungkas Totok dan bersama rombongan, disambut dengan atraksi pencak silat dari PSHT dan reog ponorogo sebagai bentuk penghormatan kepada tamu undangan.
Kades Selotong, Sumariyono SH mengatakan bahwa mayoritas penduduk Desa Selotong merupakan petani. Sistem pertaniannya menggunakan sistem tadah hujan dengan dua kali panen dalam satu musim.
“Kami berharap Pak Plt Bupati Langkat bisa membangunkan kami bangunan irigasi, sehingga kami bisa meningkatkan masa tanam kami dari dua kali panen satu musim menjadi tiga kali panen,” pintanya
Kadis Pertanian dan Ketahanan Pangan, Hendrik Tarigan SPt MMA mengatakan bahwa di Desa Selotong terdapat 300 hektar lahan persawahan warga yang menerapkan sisitem tadah hujan. Artinya para petani bisa menanam apabila musim penghujan datang.
Dinas Pertanian terus melakukan pendampingan terhadap petani di Desa Selotong. Selain itu pihaknya telah memberikan pupuk cair kepada para petani untuk membuat tanaman padi mereka bisa subur dan hasil panennya melimpah.
Sementara Plt Bupati Langkat berharap melalui kegiatan ini dapat membawa keberkahan bagi para petani agar hasil panen yang dijadwalkan pada bulan Oktober 2022 mendatang bisa melimpah.
Pemkab Langkat, kata Syah afandin mendukung penuh tentang program ketahanan pangan yaitu salah satunya dengan membangun infrastruktur dalam di bidang pertanian, peningkatan sumberdaya alam, pembinaan kelembagaan petani dan kemampuan permodalan para petani.
Ia juga mengajak para petani untuk terus berupaya mewujudkan swasembadah beras di negeri bertuah.
